After new chairman Sadanand Tanawade took charge, the Economic Development Council (EDC) in its recent meeting held on Oct 31 approved around 140 applications amounting to Rs 8.90 crore under the Chief Minister Rozgar Yojna (CMRY) scheme.
There are around 31 budding women entrepreneurs, whose applications were approved, informed EDC Chairman Sadanand Shet Tanawde.
Since the inception of the scheme in 2001 till date, 9000 people have benefitted from CMRY. Total Rs 203 crore loans have been distributed under the scheme and the recovery rate is 93.98 per cent, he said.
Some aged people take loan on their children’s name but due to their death they can’t repay the loan and this is the reason for some of the non-recovery cases, said Tanawade.
The EDC has received an interest of 18.19 per cent on the loan disbursed.
Tanawade said that around 10,000 job opportunities have been created through the CMRY scheme.
Meanwhile, EDC is going to organise special camps across Goa to create awareness on various govt schemes for entrepreneurs. On November 18, the first camp will be held at Ravindra Bhavan, Sankhali, which will cover five constituencies of Bicholim, Mayem, Sankhali, Poriem and Valpoi.
On December 5, for the five constituencies namely Sanguem, Quepem, Sanvordem, Shiroda and Circhorem a camp will be held at Ravindra Bhavan, Curchorem.
